Oreo Dirt Pots

Oreo Dirt Pot is a perfect alternative to Oreo Mud Pots.

I still remember the first time I had this dish, it was in a famous restaurant in Delhi, named Social. It was an awesome experience. Even today, I feel that the taste still lingers in my mouth as well as my mind. Once I left the city, the chance of having those awesome pots was equal to none. But the memories were unignorable, so I found the way to have it again. And since then for two years I have been making these Oreo Dirt Pots.

This is a real luxury dessert for any chocolate lover and especially for Oreo lovers. You can always go to the restaurant, Social and try the dessert your self, and if you are not then try them with this recipe.

As I am keen on sharing any alternative recipe, on my blog to let everyone enjoy the deliciousness, I am feeling very happy while writing about one of my favorite desserts. I hope you try the dish yourself and followup on your experience in the comment section.

Let's go on with what are the requirements.
Preparation for one.

Ingredients

  • oreo (any oreo except vanilla flavour)
  • normal/packet/any type of chocolate cake
  • milk/ cream/ ice-cream
  • vanilla essence (can leave it if not available)
  • instant coffee
  • digestive cookie/biscuit of any kind
  • pudina (mint) leaves (for decoration)

Tools required

  • hand mixer or  hand blender

  • chilled bowl to mixed the ingredients

  • servinng cups or paper cups for serving

Things to prepare before starting the actual recipe

  1. Take five Oreos, and crush them into smaller sized particles not too small not very big, don't turn them into powder
  2. Take five more Oreos and crush them into much smaller sizes compared to the other ones. add two digestive or any other biscuits and crush them like the oreo and mix them. (scrape the cream off and keep them aside )
  3. If you are in India take a packet chocolate cake of Rs10, or if it is not available, then take any available chocolate cake and crush them in a bowl and keep aside.
  4. If you have whipped cream available then whip up some cream enough to fill up 3/4th the cup you will be serving in.
  5. If you do not have whipped cream, but do have fresh cream, you can turn the fresh cream into whipped cream and use it. If you do not know how to do that, you can search it on youtube or can follow the following link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GWob-eNwKQ if you do not want to use whipped cream then that is fine as well, and can use simple fresh cream (not more than half).
  6. And if you have none of these, use chilled milk, the amount should not be more than half the serving bowl. and if still want it to be a bit more creamy use plain vanilla ice-cream (use two scoops/ one stick/ one cup of chocolate ice-cream.).
  7. And if you want it to be more chocolaty then use two scoops/ one stick/ one cup of chocolate ice-cream instead of milk/ cream

Preparations

  1. In a chilled mixing bowl add the whipped cream/ fresh cream/ milk/ ice-cream, to it add the scrapped cream of the Oreos, crushed cakes, vanilla essence (skip if you want to) and half teaspoon of instant coffee powder.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together with a hand whip or manual hand blender, you do not need to use an electric blender.
  3. The mixture should not be very runny, if it becomes too runny add more chocolate cake.
  4. The dessert is nearly ready here, now take the serving bowl, before adding the mixture to it, take the larger crushed pieces of oreo and mix it with the mixture.
  5. Add this mix into the serving bowl.
  6. Once added, take the other smaller crushed Oreos and spread them over the served mixture. This is a very crucial step and you cannot skip adding the Oreos.
  7. Once you cover the top add a small stem of the mint leaf over the top just like in the pictures, to make it like a plant pot.  The crushed Oreos with the digestive biscuits will make it look like dirt or soil in your plant pot.

Tips

  1. You can freeze the whole thing after you are done making it, and eat it later as a frozen dessert.
  2. You can make the mixture very runny by adding more milk to the recipe and turn it into a shake and serve it just like the pot.
  3. You can always add more chocolate to the recipe, and powder sugar to make it sweet according to your need.
  4. Just increase the amounts of the ingredients and serve more people.
  5. And most importantly, You can use as much oreo you want, the more the better, because oreo is love

Do try this at home, and share your experience with me. If you like the alternate recipe, do share and follow for more. ðŸ˜˜ðŸ˜˜ðŸ˜˜ðŸ˜˜
